Keep the other hand in the front to give support as well as balance. Next push your hips and bend your knees and while doing so keep the chest out and shoulders stretched back. Breath normally but make sure that the abs are tight in this position. Continue with pushing the hips back and keep your thighs parallel to the floor.

In this you have to grab the kettlebell with both the hands on either side of the handle. This movement will put a lot of pressure on the abdominal section. Make the movement easy for you by placing the kettlebell closer to your body and if you want to do it the hard way then hold the kettlebell away from the body with the straightened arms.

Kettlebell Exercises – a Beginners Guide

Kettlebell Exercises – a Beginners Guide

Kettlebell exercises have the potential to turn your training routine on its head. Fat loss, muscle building and conditioning can all happen simultaneously with balance and stretching ability being improved too — If you don’t have kettlebell exercises in your regime, you’re missing out.

Now, before getting on to the bread and butter of the article – the exercises themselves – I feel it’s important to explain what a kettlebell is.

The training tool of choice for the Russian elite forces, kettlebells have been in prevalent in Russian society for a very long time. Shaped like a cannonball with a handle on the top, kettlebells allow for compound movements that work the body as a whole with a large amount of muscles and muscle groups being worked in each workout.

When buying a kettlebell, it is important to make sure that you start off with the correct weight. Too heavy and you could risk injuring yourself; too light and your training will suffer. Men who are new to the world of fitness training should start with a 16kg with more experienced athletes opting instead for a 20kg or even a 24kg kettlebell. Female trainers should start with an 8kg weight with more experienced athletes picking up a 12kg or 16kg instead.

Unlike dumbells, kettlebells do not increase incrementally in small jumps. This is compensated by variation in the exercises performed. As strength and conditioning is increased, more difficult kettlebell exercises are deployed that push the body harder and further.

]]>

The first exercise any aspiring kettlebell athlete (or girevek, as they’re known in Russia) should learn is the two handed swing. Despite it’s relative simplicity, the swing is an amazing exercise as it targets the back, the legs the abs all the while increasing flexibility in the hips and increasing cardio vascular endurance. The swing epitomises all that is brilliant about kettlebell exercises.

To perform the two handed kettlebell swing, you should start by placing your feet shoulder distance apart with your toes pointly slightly outwards. The next step is to squat down and pick up the kettlebell gripping the handle with both hands while sticking your bottom out in the air. Next, stand up and swing the kettlebell in front of you, pushing your hips forwards at the top of the swing. Finally, let the kettlebell fall down between your knees while you squat down. Rinse and repeat.

It is important to manage your breathing while carrying out the swing. While the kettlebell is rising, the girevek should be exhaling gradually with a sharp exhale at the top of the swing. The girevek should then inhale as the kettlebell falls and swings down between their legs.

A simple workout that can be carried out with the two handed swing is as follows:

- Warmup for ten minutes, doing a variety of bodyweight exercises. I recommend jogging for thirty seconds, then doing thirty seconds of pushups, thirty seconds of squats and then thirty seconds of ab crunches. Repeated five times at a moderate pace, the body should be warmed up and ready for action.

- Alternate between one minute intervals of swings and active rest for twelve minutes, i.e. one minute of swings followed by one minutes of jogging followed by another minute of swings followed by one minute of pushups, and so on and so forth. Active recovery is not supposed to tax the body greatly and should thus be carried out at a moderate to low pace to keep the body active.

The next morning after completing the workout, you’ll definately feel it!

Once you’ve masted the two handed swing, you can move on to other variations of the swing such as the one handed swing and the DARC swing where the kettlebell is released by one hand in the air and caught by other.

Beyond the swing, there are hundreds of kettlebell exercises to experiment with. To get the most out of your training, I recommend picking up the book Enter the Kettlebell! by Pavel Tsatsouline.

Good luck in your training!

Kettlebell Exercises ? A Surefire Way To Total Body Fitness

Kettlebell Exercises ? A Surefire Way To Total Body Fitness

Kettlebell exercises have only recently become very popular in the United States, though in Russia they have been a staple workout in military institutes for many years, for weight loss and to gain strength, stamina and muscle mass.  Since Pavel Tsatsouline, a former special forces coach from Russia, brought the russian kettlebell, or ‘Girya’ by it’s Russian name, to the US it’s become all the rage with athletes, coaches and celebrities to increase flexibility and strength.

When comparing the russian kettlebell to some of the equipment you see in most gyms nowadays, it may look like from another time, but don’t be fooled by appearances.  A kettlebell workout is very intense and can give you amazing results even highly sophisticated gym equipment would be hard pressed to match.  Kettle bell weights are mostly made of cast iron and look like a cannonball with a handle or a kettle, hence the name.  For convenience the handles are made of rubber nowadays; much easier to grip than the original iron handles.

Most kettlebell exercises put many body parts to work at the same time, which gives you a total body workout.  Some exercises using kettlebell routines target specific parts of the body and, just as with dumbbells, a wide variety of exercises and combinations exist.  To reach total body conditioning you will want to do kettlebell training that includes swings, cleans, windmills, presses, turkish get ups and jerks to work out the entire body.

Kettlebell exercises are excellent fat burners and put the entire nervous system to work.  A highly intensive kettlebell workout in a providence gym, with a personal training program to fit your fitness needs, will whip you into shape in no time.  It can leave your body exhausted in a few minutes, since the body moves freely and isn’t supported by benches or machines as in regular gym exercises.  For this same reason kettlebell exercises burn more calories and reduce fat faster than regular fitness training programs would.  An intense workout can be done in under twenty minutes, which is great for busy people, who just don’t have the time to spend hours on end in the gym.

Even though kettlebell exercises look like they require a lot of strength to execute, kettle bell weights come at different weight levels, so the exercises can be done by man and women alike, at any fitness level.  Through this type of training you can improve your grace of movement and get muscles and joints to act in full motion range.  Grip strength and endurance, so necessary for sports like martial arts, tennis, ball sports, rowing ad others, will greatly improve with  kettlebell exercises.  Even for jobs like fire fighters and police men,  kettlebell workouts in a providence gym will whip them into the top shape they need to be in to do their jobs.

A word of advice though, when starting out with Russian kettlebells you want to make sure to get the right instruction to avoid injuries.  Get started in a providence gym where the personal trainer instructor is RKC # 2 certified, which means the trainer is certified particularly in Russian kettlebell exercises.  That way you will be on safe ground and also get the most out of your efforts.

Double Kettlebell Exercises Double The Fat Burning

Double Kettlebell Exercises Double The Fat Burning

Double Fat Burners

Let me start off by saying the title of this article may be a little deceiving. Alot of people hear the term fat burners and think of fat burning pills. That is not what I’m talking about here. And for the record stay away from those pills they don’t work. So when I say double fat burners what do I mean?

Double Kettlebell Exercises

If your not sure what I mean it’s simply using two kettlebells in your workouts. Now to start with this is not for someone who has not used kettlebells before. You should have 3-5 months of solid consistant workouts with one bell under your belt before you move into double kettlebell exercises.

What Exercises Do You Do With Double Kettlebells?

The same as you do with one bell.

1) Swings

2) Snatches

3) Clean and Press

4) Cleans

And so many more……You get the idea

Why Use 2 Kettlebells?

Simple answer using two kettlebells makes any exercise you do much harder and much more effective. There is no better way to burn fat than with a few high rep sets of kettlebell swings, snatches, and clean and jerks. These killer ballistic exercises work your body as one unit and require a great deal of hard work. The harder you work the more calories you burn.

]]>

Using two bells makes it even more effective. Make no mistake using the 2 bells is tough. That’s why I say it’s not for beginners. But if you have been using one bell for a few months get yourself another kettlebell and start doing double kettlebell exercises.

The added workload of the second bell increases the metabolic effect and lean muscle gains twofold.

My Favorite Double Kettlebell Exercise

Actually it is not a single exercise per se. It is a combination exercise and in my opinion it is the best full body there is So what is it?

The Double kettlebell Clean, Squat and Press

Combination kettlebell exercises are an efficient way to work the entire body without resting. This ensures you receive the maximum cardiovascular benefits along with strength training.

How To Do The Kettlebell Clean Squat And Press

1. Place a kettlebell on the ground between your feet.

2. The starting position is the same as if you were going to perform a deadlift. Look straight ahead and keep your chest open and your weight on your heels.

3. Clean the kettlebell to the “rack” position (with the handle at shoulder height and the bell resting between the forearm and the biceps, almost in the crook of the elbow.

4. keeping the kettlebells in the rack position squat down.

5. Raise up pushing through your heels and press the bells overhead.

6. return to starting position and repeat.

Combination exercises like this clean, squat and press can be a workout all on their own. set a timer for 15 minutes and just do this exercise and tell me it’s not one of the best full body workouts you have ever done.

Double Kettlebell exercises are also great for combining with bodyweight exercises in a full body workout. For those of you who have discovered the power of kettlebell training take it up a notch by adding a second kettlebell. Then try a workout like this one using 2 bells and your own bodyweight.

2) Burpees

Kettlebell Exercises For Optimum Health

Kettlebell Exercises For Optimum Health

Kettlebell Exercises

Going by the popularity wave, one is left wondering if the kettlebell is some kind of magical equipment which one needs to have for fat burning workouts. The kettlebell may look very obsolete when compared to new advanced weight training facilities available today, but nevertheless a kettlebell workout is very intense and allows free movement. Kettlebells can be used like other weights, to gain muscle mass, strength and fat loss.

The kettlebell is not a new invention; in fact it has been around for many years. But it only gained popularity recently in the United States after a former Russian special forces coach, Pavel Tsatsouline, brought it to the continent. Since then, many leading trainers, athletes and celebrities have embraced kettlebell exercises to increase their strength and flexibility.

A kettlebell is a weight, often made of cast iron, and looks like a cannonball, which has a suitcase type handle on top, for gripping. ‘Girya’ is the Russian word for the kettlebell, named so because of its shape. The kettlebell has long been and is still being used in Russian military institutes. These days’ kettlebells generally come with rubber grips, added for convenience.

]]>

An efficient workout with kettlebells can accomplish amazing results which even the most sophisticated gym equipment can not match.  Most kettlebell exercises work on many body parts at a time, thus providing a total work out for the whole body. There are numerous kettlebell exercises aimed at a specific body part. Like dumbbells, many variations and combinations of kettlebell exercises exist. If one wants to gain total body conditioning, then one should choose kettlebell exercises like swings, cleans, jerks, presses, windmills and turkish get ups which work on the entire body.

Exercising with kettlebells burns the fat from your body and also works the whole nervous system. A highly intensive workout with kettlebells can leave your body totally exhausted in a few minutes. Since the body is not supported by any bench or machine, like in a gym. A kettlebell workout burns more calories and reduces fat quicker. Kettlebell cleans, snatch, jerk, swing and windmills are the most popular kettlebell exercises which can be done in under 10 minutes.

While kettlebell swings are good for muscle control and put emphasis on the posterior muscles; kettlebell cleans and jerks are lifting exercises which work on hamstrings, hips, arms, shoulders, and the chest. However, a kettlebell snatch is the trickiest of all kettlebell exercises as it combines many movements which involves muscles of the back, shoulder, forearm and abdomen, which works the whlle kinetic chain so it is a good workout for the whole body.

Doing repetitive kettlebell snatches with light kettlebells is also very good for metabolic training and can burn many calories in a short period of time. The kettlebell snatch can improve the muscle tone, increase body strength and stamina and is also very good for your posture.

While kettlebell exercises look as if you need the strength of goliath to perform the foundation exercises, they can be adopted by anyone male or female at any level- only if taught by a proper kettlebell coach.  Through performing kettlebell exercises, one can develop muscles and joints to act in a full range of motion. Kettlebell exercises work wonders for grip strength and endurance; which are so essential for sports like tennis, martial arts, rowing, ball sports and many others.
