How A Mountain Bike Can Provide A Full Body Workout

How A Mountain Bike Can Provide A Full Body Workout

Article by Andrew Jackson

An ever increasing number of us are looking to undertake cardiovascular workouts as a way to beat the bulge and keep the weight off. The Holy Grail of cardiovascular workouts is to find an exercise that gets the heart pumping and also provides a full body workout; getting all of the muscle groups working. With this in mind, many people will use a cross trainer or pay a visit to the local swimming baths. However, there are other alternatives and here we discuss how investing in a mountain bike could provide you with a fun alternative to traditional full body workouts.

Muscle groups

Obviously by using your mountain bike and going out on rides of any kind will get your legs working and help build and define muscle. It doesn’t really matter if you are cycling off road or on tarmac; your legs will be working. If you are looking to add muscle as well as reduce fat then cycling up lots of hills is a good idea. In addition to your legs, your core and arm muscles are also used during cycling as you turn the handle bars and use your upper body strength to ride uphill.

Getting the most from your exercise session

If you really want to get the best results from using your mountain bike then you should be taking it off road and getting muddy. The nature of mountain biking dictates that you often have to break suddenly and turn quickly to avoid obstacles. This increases the use of core and arm muscles. Likewise, taking the strain as you bounce down a rocky descent serves to build strength and muscle in the arms and upper body. There is also a good chance that every now and then you will have to sling your bike on your shoulder to negotiate a tricky section or hop over a fence or wall, which again improves body and arm strength.

Incredible Dual Action Exercise Bikes Convenient For Full Body Workouts

Incredible Dual Action Exercise Bikes Convenient For Full Body Workouts

Article by Raisa Mosley

In the event that you are looking for a full body workout, a dual action workout bike might be your best bet. Although many people turn to stationary bicycles for a good cardiovascular exercise, not everybody utilizes a bike that includes an upper body exercise. In the event that you’re using an exercise bike that has fixed handle bars, you are missing out on a complete workout simply because your upper body isn’t performing any work.

Dual action bikes are in fact an excellent way to exercise both the lower and upper body whilst protecting your knees. Because you remain seated during your exercise routine, you get a low impact exercise which will not put very much pressure on your ankles, knees or even hips. If you have difficulties with arthritis, this really is a definite reward since you are more likely to continue with your fitness routine if you’re comfortable.

The torso workout provided by a stationary bike together with movable handle bars is definitely gentle enough for almost everyone, but can be energetic enough to help develop your muscle tissue and lose fat. You can trim and also firm all the muscle groups in your arms since dual action exercise bicycles use both together a pushing and a pulling movement. You’ll additionally be toning your upper back muscles and some neck muscles, making those bicycles preferred among physical therapists looking for a mild yet efficient method of strengthening the torso.

Be careful not to overdo your workout routine when you begin utilizing a dual action workout bike, or else you can strain your back or even build aching arm muscles the day after an exercise. Begin slowly with lower resistance and a moderate pace, and then work your way up to a more intense workout over two or three weeks.

Low-end stationary bicycles generally do not possess torso workout integrated, so you’ll want to look at bikes in the mid price range or even higher. You can find affordable options that have moving handle bars that you simply pump forwards and backwards in rhythm to your pedaling at most exercise equipment stores or even on the internet. Most of these will use fan resistance, which means that the resistance relies on how quickly you pedal, the speed of the fan, and also exactly how efficient the rowing movement of the handle bars is.

If you would like the best in dual action, think about spending a little more and choosing top of the range exercise bike which uses magnetic resistance, that is the smoothest, quietest ride you’ll find. The majority of magnet resistance models additionally feature extras for example a console that displays your distance traveled, speed, excess calories burned and other data.

What You Need To Know About Doing A Full Body Workout

What You Need To Know About Doing A Full Body Workout

Article by Joe Maldonado

Copyright (c) 2011 Joe Maldonado

A full body workout is by far the best way to get in shape. However, there are certain things that you should know beforehand in order to make your workouts more effective. The first thing that you should keep in mind is that you want to limit your exercises to just one for every muscle group. You are going to be working out your entire body, so you have to keep it short.

Also, you should vary your exercises for the different muscles groups with each workout session. You do not want your muscles to get used to doing the same thing all of the time or you will stop seeing results. You should also keep your workouts limited to just a few sets for every muscle group. This is because when you are doing a full body workout, your focus should be more on intensity rather than the amount of exercises you are doing. If you do it this way, you will actually start being able to lift more weight.

Forget about using the machines. You will be much better off using free weights, as the machines just isolate everything. You can use a leg press machine in combination with the free weights, but in most cases you will be better off just staying away from the machines.

When you are doing this kind of a workout, you should only be in the gym 2-3 times a week. When you work out your muscles actually get broken down, and it is the repair process that allows them to grow. You need to allow sufficient repair time for your muscles in order for them to reach their maximum growth potential. This is one of the benefits of doing this kind of workout. You get to exercise all of your muscle groups without having to be in the gym every day, so your muscles can get the repair time that they need. Plus, you can take the weekends off if you want!

Keep in mind that you are going to be better off if you start out by using less weight. You can get rid of excess body fat by doing more reps with less weight. It almost sounds too obvious, but be sure to eat. Working out like this is going to burn up a lot of your energy. Plus, when you do high intensity workouts you are going to be increasing your metabolism. This means that even when you are resting you will be burning calories and fat. What you eat depends upon your goals and whether you are in it for fat loss or muscle building.

Try not to waste time, and keep your periods of rest between sets as short as you can. You are going to be trying to work out your whole body in a short period of time, so you have to keep it going. Finally, when you are doing a full body workout it is going to be important that you track your progress by logging your workouts in a journal, as this is the key to reaching your fitness goals!

Lower Body Workout Programs – Get a Total Body Home Workout

Lower Body Workout Programs – Get a Total Body Home Workout

Lower Body Workout Programs

Just because you can’t find the time to work out at a gym does not mean that you have to miss out on the benefits of an exercise program. A home exercise program can give you a total body workout. You can easily find a large number of workout programs that you can do at home for overall fitness, weight loss, or strength training.

A good exercise program, whether for the home or gym, combines both cardiovascular and weightlifting exercises. Typically, your weightlifting routine should consist of seven to twelve exercises. Your workout should include all muscle groups. Perform a few exercises for each muscle group to get the best results.

Change your workout program every couple of weeks. As your body adapts to the same routine, your progress will slow down. Challenge your body by doing different cardio and strength training exercises. Change your exercises periodically.

For best results, perform strength training exercises with your cardiovascular exercises. By increasing muscle mass, you will be able to boost your metabolism and burn fat much faster. Perform weight lifting exercises at least twice a week.

]]>

Your home exercise program should include a full body workout that targets the entire body. Do the exercise program three times a week with a rest day in between. If you exercise a muscle group on one day you have to give it a rest the following day. You may also opt to exercise the upper body one day and do the lower body on the next day. With this type of program, you can lift weights on consecutive days as long as you allow your upper body to rest while working out your lower body. Lower Body Workout Programs

Before trying out any workout, see your doctor if you have any injuries, illnesses, or other conditions that may affect your workout. Modify any exercises that cause discomfort or pain.
The workout program below will give you a total body home workout. You will need a barbell, dumbbells, an exercise ball, an exercise mat, and a weight bench. Start by warming up with 5 minutes of light cardio exercise. For beginners, start without weights for one set of 14 to 16 reps.

Intermediate and advanced exercisers can do 2 or 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps using enough weight to just complete the desired number of reps.

1. Bench press (Chest)
2. Barbell row (Back)
3. Back extension (Lower back)
4. Hammer curls (Biceps)
5. Kickbacks (Triceps)
6. Deadlifts (Glutes, hamstrings, back)
7. Static lunge (Quads, hamstrings, glutes)
8. Squats (Quads, hamstrings, glutes)
9. Bicycle (Abs)
10. Ball crunch (Abs)

Combine the above exercises with a cardio workout such as jogging. After a couple of weeks, change the exercises in your home exercise program to prevent your body from adapting to your workout routine. Continually challenging your body will result in greater progress. Lower Body Workout Programs

Most Effective Ab Workout? A Full Body Workout.

Most Effective Ab Workout? A Full Body Workout.

Article by Six Pack Dan

The best ab workout is a full body workout. We are always exposed to media ads of ab exercises and machines that promise great looking abs by training the abs directly. The fact of the matter is, the best ab workout is a full body workout that emphasizes increasing the body’s metabolism, by training with weights, interval training, monitoring what we eat, and managing our stress.

On the spot reduction does not work. Doing ab exercises will help strengthen our abs and help our hips and back get stronger. To get ripped abs, we must do a full body workout to burn fat. When the overall body is able to burn fat, the abs underneath the stomach fat will become visible and give you the ripped abs.

Doing multi-joint exercises with resistance helps to increase the body’s metabolism. Not only does our body become more defined and toned, but the increased muscle mass increases the metabolic activity of the body and helps burn excess body fat, which is stored in the belly.

Interval training has shown its effectiveness in increasing metabolism by forcing the body to adapt to the increased demands of the high intensity intervals. The body physiologically increases its metabolic activity to fuel the muscles for the increased physical activity. The body then searches for fuel sources and becomes efficient at burning excess body fat. Fat burning continues well after the training session has ended.

Monitoring what we eat can help us control our caloric intake. By consuming foods that are higher quality, which are made up of lean protein, and complex carbohydrates, we can fuel our body for its increased physical activities. We can control the calories we take in by avoiding sodas, sugar, and fatty foods, this way we will be better able to consume the calories we eat and not have any excess calories, which inevitably is converted to fat and stored in the body.

Increasing the number of meals we consume throughout the day to 5-6 meals and making the meals smaller portioned, will help us maintain our energy level as well keep our blood sugar level stable.

Managing our stress is another way to keep fat from being stored in our body. When we are in a stressful situation, our body produces the hormone Cortisol, which stores fat in the abdominal region of our body.

A full body workout is much more effective to get ripped abs than isolated exercises that just target the abs. By making changes to our exercise program and incorporating resistance and interval training, monitoring what we eat and managing our stress, we can truly achieve six pack abs.

The Advantages Of Doing A Full Body Workout Routine

The Advantages Of Doing A Full Body Workout Routine

Article by Joe Maldonado

Copyright (c) 2011 Joe Maldonado

With a full body workout routine, not only are you able to effectively build lean muscle and burn fat, but you also get to spend less time in the gym! The thing is that you will only get the results you desire if you approach your workouts in the proper way. First of all, you should keep your exercises to only one for every muscle group. This is mainly because you are going to need to keep your workouts under an hour, and you really have to make your time count. If you have been working out for longer than an hour you will want to start cutting it down, because at that point you aren’t even building muscle anymore. As a matter of fact, if you work out too long you could actually be giving your muscles the opposite effect of what you desire.

Another thing that you should do in order to help get your entire workout finished in time is to make sure that your rest periods in between exercises are not any longer than a minute. You are going to have to be really focused if you want to get all of your muscle groups worked out before your time is up.

Even though you are only going to be doing one exercise per muscle group every time you work out, you could still vary your exercises from one session to the next. As a matter of fact, this is actually ideal. First of all, it will keep you from getting bored with your entire full body workout routine. But more importantly, if you continue to do the same exercises every time you work out, your body will grow accustomed to what you are doing at some point.

Your muscles will already be expecting what you are going to do in your workouts. When this happens, you will most likely hit a plateau, meaning your results will either be significantly limited or you won’t be getting any at all. The best way to keep this from happening is to vary not only your exercises, but also the intensity of the exercises themselves.

You also cannot forget to eat before and after your workout. Many people are under the impression that their workout will be more effective if they have not eaten beforehand. However, this is not the case. You need to have some protein and carbs before you workout to give you the energy that you need to exercise to your maximum potential.

If you have not eaten, you will most likely grow weak and tired halfway through your routine, and then you will not be performing the exercises as well as you would be if you had eaten a little beforehand. This is not to say that you should go into a workout feeling incredibly full, but it does help if you can eat something small. When it comes to a full body workout routine, you will surely be able to get the physique that you are looking to achieve, just as long as you remain consistent and follow these tips.

Full Body Workouts – The Key to a Slim and Toned Body

Full Body Workouts – The Key to a Slim and Toned Body

Article by Dan Clay

A full body workout is one of the most effective workout routines that you can undertake in the gym. Full body workouts have a number of benefits that are worth considering when you next visit the gym. To make your time in the gym more effective, try a full body workout.

Full body workouts give you benefits including better core development, reducing the risk of over training and under training, it gives your workout maximum impact, it provides the beneficial growth in hormones, along with providing the body with better overall muscular development and body symmetry.

However, there are few things that need to be undertaken in order to ensure that you have an effective workout. Firstly, it is important to workout with more than one exercise per muscle group. For example, each shoulder and chest exercise also works the triceps; therefore it is not necessary to repeat them over again.

Change your workout routine for different muscles on a daily basis to ensure that your different muscles are receiving the benefits. This will ensure that your muscles are receiving exercise from different angles and becoming stronger. Do not perform the same routine two days in a row.

Lastly, but certainly not least, it is important that you learn to eat the right foods in order to allow your body to benefit from your workout. A good diet will ensure that your body is receiving the correct amount of calories, whilst at the same time burning off any unnecessary fat calories with your workout.

The purpose of undertaking a full body workout is to ensure that you are working out the most muscles possible at one time. Therefore, select compound exercises in order to ensure that you are receiving the benefits of a complex workout routine.

When undertaking full body workouts it is important that you time your exercises correctly. This of course includes the very important rest periods between each set, as well as completing the correct number of sets.
