I thought that was pretty interesting and starting rocking back and forth for repetitions instead of just holding up a regular plank. The exercise was much harder and I was definitely much sorer the next day. So get in a basic plank position and from there, push your body forward pivoting on your forearms and coming up on your toes. Make sure to keep your body flat the entire time. A lot of people end up pushing their butts down when they do this exercise. A good thing to do is perform this exercise sideways looking at yourself in the mirror so you can watch your form.

Shop when you are full and you will find them less tempting, and you won’t be distracted from getting just what you intended to buy (so you will save a bit of money too).
So in this part of your exercise for love handles, what should you be buying to put on your dinner table? Well, plenty of fresh fruit and veg for a start. Wholegrain foods such as muesli, oatmeal, wholemeal pasta, etc are also good. Fresh fish and chicken (remove the skin). Lentils are also reported to be very good at reducing belly fat.
OK, so those are what you should be eating, but what is the forbidden fruit in this exercise for love handles? Processed foods like white bread and pastas made with refined white flour should be avoided. Processed meat such as bacon, hot dogs, bologna and salami would set any dietitians alarm bells ringing. High calorie snacks like potato chips, cheese snacks and chocolate. High fat convenience foods like frozen dinners. Cakes and cookies. All these foods you should either eliminate completely or reduce significantly if you are going to get rid of your love handles.
Exercise For Love Handles Part 2: Cardiovascular Exercise
So what is cardiovascular exercise? Well, it is not an exercise like an abdominal crunch that targets a specific area or set of muscles. It is any exercise that gets the whole body moving and increases the heart rate, and must be sustained over at least 30 minutes. This type of workout is vital in our exercise for love handles as it will burn of excess fat from all over the body.
Love handles are no different to any build up of fat elsewhere on the body, even if they do seem more stubborn. Good examples of cardio exercise are swimming, cycling, running, squash, aerobics and tennis, although I am sure you can think of more.

Exercise Love Handles Now!

Hit those love handles hard with this exercise.
The following article shows you a great exercise for hitting a certain area of your abs, which are known as the Obliques. These are located to the side of your abs and are often referred to as the love handles! This exercise also works the lower back area too so you get more bang for your buck!
Let me stress that this is toning the muscle in that area, you still eat and drink sensibly and introduce some cardio exercises such as brisk walking, swimming or running into your routine to burn off the body fat that is covering those muscles. However, if you are eating well then this exercise will soon start to see you reducting your love handles, so please do try it.
As always a set of dumbbells would be perfect for this exercise, failing that some evenly balanced tins of food or bottles of water will be a great substitute.
The Method
* Stand upright, looking straight ahead, shoulders back and feet shoulder width apart.
* Have a dumbbell in each hand with your arms straight down your sides.
* Keep your abdominals tight and tense but remember to breathe all the way through the exercise. You’re now ready to start hitting those love handles!
* Slowly bend to the left, keeping your feet firmly on the floor.
* Make sure that the movement comes from the waist only. So you shouldn’t be moving your knees or hips.
* The bending movement should only be to the side so don’t bend forwards or backwards. This will make sure your targeting the right area.
* Keep bending until you reach a point where you can’t bend anymore, pause briefly and return to the start position.
* You’re now back in the upright position, so you need to repeat the process but on the opposite side and maintaining a controlled movement. This will ensure that you continue to carry out the technique correctly and safely.
* Well done you’ve just completed a side bend!
* Repeat for 3 sets, with 5-6 bends per side.
Not only is this a great exercise for muscle tone it also builds strength in the Oblique area, which is used in any twisting or bending movements that you may do during whilst carrying out everyday tasks. So it’s a great functional exercise and one that could save injuries.
