If you’re really into hockey, you should definitely be using some hockey training programs not only to improve your skills, but to keep your body in the best shape for this sport, which is very fast and furious and very demanding. Playing hockey well requires players to be in good aerobic shape as well being strong and agile.

Aerobics really improves a player’s endurance and the effort needed to stay out on the ice and in the game for what could be some grueling play! And while a lot of the aerobic and cardio training, and especially the strength training and weight lifting, in some hockey training programs are done off the ice, the best training programs will definitely incorporate a good bit of on-ice training as well.

Virtual training, which you can do with online programs or DVD courses can help with some of the initial training as well. There are some good hockey training programs on video today that provide some excellent virtual training off the ice.

You can actually get some pretty good information plus learn basic stick and puck handling moves, different ways to make shots, and even some skating maneuvers.

These types of programs are really popular for players who know many of the basics already and have hectic schedules requiring them to schedule their hockey training programs around full time job or school schedules.

Some of the following types of training can be done either from home using a DVD or online program, or by going to your local gym. And of course, your team coach should definitely be adding this type of training to the team schedule along with regular practice.

1) Hockey Strength and Weight TrainingYou use a lot of muscles when you play hockey. Hockey is probably one of the hardest sports on your body when it comes to wear and tear. You’ll be training not only for strength and flexibility, but you’ll also obviously be training for speed. So while you might think that hockey is all about your legs and knees, think again.

Sure, the strength of your legs is key enabling the ultimate in puck control, balance and fast skating while preventing any serious injuries. And since you need to keep your legs strong and flexible, and because hockey players take such long strides out on the ice, leg exercises should include moves that will work the groin area too.

But just as important are other muscles you’ll use extensively during the game, which include your lower back, adductors, abductors, abs, glutes, hip flexors and extensors.

2) Hockey Cardio TrainingIf you’ve never done any serious cardio training, you want to start slow and as much as possible, reduce any type of exercise that’s going to create stress on your joints, like running and jumping, especially right before the season starts. You can get excellent cardio and aerobic training without pounding the heck out of your joints.

Using a stepper or an elliptical machine will really build you aerobically and help build the endurance you’ll need on the ice, but without wearing out your knees before the season even starts.

In addition to aerobic conditioning, you’ll also need to increase your anaerobic level higher to withstand the anaerobic shifts out on the ice during the game. So make sure the hockey training programs you’re using have you working out anaerobically for 45-second shifts during your aerobic training and you’ll get yourself in the shape you need for the season.

3) Plyometric Training for Hockey PlayersHockey is a sport that requires some really fast movements like stopping short and changing direction in rapid speed, jumping over players and dropped hockey sticks, running fast, then turning quickly on the ice.

What Plyometric exercises do is trains your muscles, connective tissues and your nervous system so you can successfully make these fast motion moves on the ice. Doing Plyometrics will seriously help you with rapid direction changes, your overall agility and it will help increase your shooting power during your game.

The bottom line, however you decide to train for the season, overall hockey training programs should definitely include all of the above in addition to any other training or drills you’ll be doing. A good rounded program will get you in the best shape and keep you in the best shape so you’re always playing your best.

Essentially the most basic of cycling training programs for boosting your cycling endurance is riding over rather long distances regularly and consistently. This cycling training program aims at building your muscles’ strength and improving your cardiovascular system so that you have better oxygen uptake, body recovery and to build-up your leg muscles power. I have split this cycling training program into five steps for better mastering. Listed here are the 5 steps;

1. Ascertain your target distance.

If your reason for training is so as to be competitive in a long distance cycling race, then your target distance is the distance of your race. Therefore whatever your reason, determine an average distance of how far you would want to ride.

2. Select a route that is almost like your bicycling route.

If the route you are practicing for is hilly at some parts and level in other areas, then simply look for identical routes and exercise in such routes. This should help you to adapt easily when you go and ride in that particular cycling route.

3. Ride a 3rd or a half of the distance.

To start your cycling training, begin by riding a percentage of your total target distance. That means that you should ride for example, 1/2 or 1/3 of the total distance you are aiming towards. You must do this so as to build up your cycling endurance with ease. Ride over this distance at a consistent pace, not necessarily at a high speed, but at a pace you can maintain almost always.

4. Practice this cycling training program every week.

You should then repeat this cycling exercise every week. As you repeat this cycling exercise, you ought to aim to increase the distance you cover each week by a little margin, as you improve to your target distance. This can be done by increasing the distance simply by, for instance, 5% your target distance week after week.

5. Lower your cycling distance and intensity from time to time.

After every 4 – 5 weeks of exercising, decrease the distance and intensity you ride in order to avoid burnout as well as to let your entire body recuperate.

Among the things you should remember is that, you should not over do any cycling exercise. If you think a cycling training program is just too strenuous, just simply decrease its intensity, by for instance decreasing the distance covered or perhaps the interval time. Ensure that you are at ease with whatever cycling training plans you follow.

Turbulence Training Program Review

Turbulence Training is a program created by Craig Galantine, who is a ‘Men’s Health’ Magazine Expert and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. The plan is designed to enable you to loose fat and gain fat without cardio and it uses three short but intense workouts per week. The plans keep changing in order to keep your body from adapting to a fixed routine and these changes work to stimulate rapid muscle growth.

Research has shown that high-intensity interval training (often called HIIT) combined with lifting heavier weights for fewer reps, is a better and more efficient way to build muscle and lose fat than lengthy cardio exercises, longer repetitions and training with lighter weights. The Turbulence Training program shows you how you can do only 3 workouts a week of 45 minutes each and loose fat while gaining body muscle. The program includes a warm up exercise that you do for 5 minutes followed by strength training of 15-20 minutes and then interval trading of 15-20 minutes as well.

While these workouts are shorter in duration and less frequent, the difficulty level is high. They are designed to make you do as much work as possible in a shorter duration of time, and you’ll feel that you have done some training by the time you complete a session.

A big advantage of the Turbulence Training program is that it does not bore you with repetition. A lot of people start fat loss programs with enthusiasm but stop doing it after a while because they just can do the same thing over and over again. In this program, you will be changing workout routines once a month. You are doing the same exercise only 12 times and this his does not allow your body to adapt itself to the changes which will halt your progress.

Learning how to build a website from scratch shouldn’t be too difficult these days. With the need to learn everything about HTML etc., almost eliminated, due to the number of free and nearly-free software programs that sort that out automatically, Training Course providers need to only recommend and demonstrate these to cover the ‘techie’ elements of site building. Instead, they can concentrate on helping the ‘newbie’ get a site uploaded as quickly as possible.

Website Building Teaching Programs, Methods and Styles…

There are many ways to teach website building, and finding the best system, and the best teaching style takes a bit of research. For instance, there are those that offer:

* Regular E-mailed lessons, which slowly build up knowledge over a period of weeks, or –

All of the above are conducted on a relatively informal basis, but there are also:

* The ‘formal’ type of paid-for courses – usually supplied by online Colleges or Learning Centres – where you can sometimes attend Webinar ‘lectures’ or classes, have homework assignments, and gain a basic Internet qualification at the end of the course.

Website Training that ‘goes the extra mile’…

Each of the above Training Courses have their plus and minus points but, as a Webwriter and Copywriter/Trainer myself, it’s more a question of HOW WELL the above online courses are delivered to the customer. After a lot of searching, I’ve found the best website building courses are ones that provide:

* A combination of a ‘master’ E-Book PDF Web-Building Training Guide outlining all the stages of site building – from getting the best domain name/hosting, to final uploading via a recommended FTP system to the Web. Everything should be presented in a detailed ‘step-by-step’ way that leaves nothing to chance

* the E-Book should also contain good screenshots, and links to recommended software, instruction examples and reference addresses etc., plus VIDEO demonstrations of the more complicated elements to master

* as well as this ‘enhanced’ E-Book, ideally, there should be a link to an active Website (like a ‘Mother-ship’) containing more illustrations of various web-building elements, plus a FAQ section, articles, helpful advice, some useful freebies, tips and help sections – maybe even a two-way Forum for ‘newbies’ to ask questions/get answers, etc.

Trainer Characteristics – committed or confusing..?

As well as a good combination of training elements in one ‘package’ as above, the next MOST important element for any newbie website building ‘student’ is HOW the training ‘sounds’. By that I mean:

* How the Trainer delivers each point, both in the way the course is written, and how it is spoken in the videos. If it’s clearly written, doesn’t skim over the more complicated areas, and sounds ‘friendly’ and relaxed (and doesn’t assume you know every Internet term or phrase) – you’ve found a good Trainer. And if he/she actually says ‘well done’ when you reach a certain point – all the better!

* If you’re made to feel ‘welcome’ at the website, it is easy to follow, and doesn’t make you feel you have to buy something, or pay to become a member – great! (Obviously, at some stage, the site has to make money, but if it can offer some free help or more to begin with, and gently sell you some really valuable benefits if you pay to join later, that’s good!).

The ideal Website Building Training system…

Believe me, there are one or two Training programs that combine all of the above: (1) a detailed Training E-Book with screenshots, links to references and videos (2) a Website containing lots of extra help, articles, reference links and even some useful free elements, and (3) a dedicated Trainer who sounds genuine, knowledgeable and friendly; someone who has obviously done everything he/she teaches (and enjoys teaching) and is basically good at it!

That’s the ideal combination in my book – because you can thenlearn quicker, keep up with everything, enjoy the different stages, and see yourself succeeding in producing a site that works! Thistype of training does exist, and it’s free to start! See below for further details.

Basketball training program greatly helps to be fast, light and agile with an excellent endurance and powers of recovery. For this reason strength conditioning and plyometric training are a compulsory part of professional player’s training as they are known to increase player’s speed, acceleration and jumping ability. Speed endurance is a critical factor for basketball players because they continually repeat high intensity activities during matches with small resting periods. Training program for basketball is mainly broken down into four phases in years. Furthermore each of the phases focuses concentrates on a particular fitness development program thus offering participants a progressive buildup to top fitness and performance.

Professional basketball training presently focuses mostly on weights and strength development which we are about to look at. Thus a year-long training program would be as outlined below:

Early pre-season- During this time which precedes the offseason, players are making preparations for the onset of the season. Emphasis is placed on achieving peak strength by concentrating on aerobic fitness and functional strength. When this occurs focus will be on converting the peak strength into muscular power through plyometric workout. This phase should last for at least 4 weeks before onset of the competitive season. 3 strength training sessions separated by 48 hours each would be sufficient to build maximal strength.

Late pre-season- Start of the season is around the corner and pre-season trials are imminent. In this phase of basketball training focus is on building anaerobic fitness, maximum strength and power. Polymeric training is applied to convert newfound strength into basketball specific power on the lower part of the torso with rebounding exercises like depth jumps. The upper torso is worked with medicine balls. Please note that it should not be overdone even when you have the feeling like you haven’t had enough as it can result into burnouts.

In season- During this phase competition is already underway and emphasis is on players to try and maintain their achieved speed during the previous phases, aerobic and anaerobic fitness and strength power. Though during this course players are likely to lose some maximal strength, as long as they maintain a high level of muscular power they earned previously they will fare well in competitions. During this phase the players are encouraged to spend at least a session in the weight room and plyometric training.

Off season- Probably you won the title and you feel the desire to relax and wait for the pre-season. During this phase of basketball training focus is on rest and recovery and some several weeks break from serious fitness and strength training will be helpful but should be accompanied with maintenance of light activity e.g. light weight lifting and cross training. Exercises should focus on stabilizing muscles and core stability. This low-intensity functional strength phase workouts help to restore balance and its objectives are to prepare the athlete joints, ligaments and tendons for the upcoming intense exercises in the coming phases, strengthen neglected stabilizer muscles, balance both sides of the body by correcting imbalances between flexors and extensors. This phase is very crucial and should not be overlooked as it is a determinant of the strength quality and power one develops in later phases.

Role-specific Training

An effective basketball training program requires participants before embarking on training to first warm up and after training to try to cool down. It is important to note that just like in other sports, in a basketball team members have different roles to play and require different physical attributes.
