Bosu Ball Core Exercises and Core Training Tips

Bosu Ball Core Exercises and Core Training Tips

In gyms all across the country, people are using many different tools to exercise their core muscles. Some people really like the Swiss ball (Exercise Ball), and some people really like using the Bosu Ball. The Bosu Ball is half of a Swiss ball on a flat rubber platform, and it stands for Both Sides Up or Both Sides Utilized because you can do exercises on the flat platform and also on the soft dome shaped side.

Balance Training has become an important part of core workouts, because when you stand on one leg your center of gravity shifts, and the core muscles in your lower back and hips must work harder to maintain your stability. You can stand on the Bosu Ball with 2 feet or on 1 leg. 1 legged balancing on the Bosu Ball is really challenging, but it can lead to dramatic improvements in balance, coordination, and sports performance.

In addition to balancing exercises, you can do traditional abdominal and core exercises on the Bosu Ball. The Bosu ball can enhance your core workout in 2 major ways. It can challenge your stability because it has a soft unstable surface, and it can increase your core strength by allowing your body to utilize a greater range of motion when you perform traditional core exercises.

]]>

Whenever you do a core exercise on the Bosu Ball, your core muscles work both to stabilize and move your lower back and pelvis. When you perform core exercises on a stable surface like a machine or the floor, there is less challenge for the stabilizer muscles.

The Bosu Ball can also enhance your core workout by allowing your spine to utilize a greater range of motion. Your lower back has a natural curve, and the abdominal muscles work to reverse that natural curve. When you lie flat on the floor, the floor partially reverses the natural curve in your lower back, and this decreases the range of motion that the spine can move. Less range of motion equals less muscle work.

Here is an example of how the Bosu Ball can be used in your core workout to make your exercises more effective. When you perform crunches on a Bosu Ball, your spine can extend to its natural position, so you get additional range of motion when compared to the floor. The Bosu ball is also unstable, so your core muscles also work to keep you balanced as you crunch. Also, because the Bosu Ball is contoured, your body can focus more on segmental movement through the spine. Lastly, because the Bosu Ball keeps your body elevated off the ground, there truly is no rest position for the core muscles, so they stay engaged throughout the entire exercise.

The Bosu Ball is a great tool to use for core exercises. In addition to regular ab crunches, you can do reverse crunches, leg raises, Russian Twists, or V-ins. If you see a Bosu Ball lying around the gym floor, ask a trainer to show you a few exercises on it. You may find that it is one of your favorite tools to incorporate into your core workouts.

Fitness & Pilates -The Truth About Pilates And Weight Loss, Does It Really Work? Core Exercises And How They Can Help You?

Fitness & Pilates -The Truth About Pilates And Weight Loss, Does It Really Work? Core Exercises And How They Can Help You?

There is a lot of misunderstanding about Pilates and core stability ball exercises ,I get asked lots of questions but the most common one is…’Will Pilates help me lose weight?’

The truth is Pilates is designed to tone and shape your muscles, it is not designed to burn of fat.

If you are over weight you will need a cardiovascular workout. This type of workout is more active and combined together with a good food plan you will start to lose weight quickly.

If you haven’t done any cardio work before I suggest you just start of with a cardio exercises for beginners its not going to be easy when you first start out but if you stick with it you’ll see some fantastic results very quickly.

When I talk about food plans I say ‘Food Plan’ because I hate the word ‘Diet.’

Diet to me means going without what I like and trying to stop eating. You don’t stop eating and you don’t go without you just need to eat the right foods to help you lose weight.

Now, if you do a cardiovascular workout one day and then have a rest day to let your body recuperate you can then do a workout using a Pilates core exercise ball. By alternating your workout routine in this way, you will help to tone your muscles which will start to pull your body into shape and by combining the two different work-outs and having a good food plan you will see a dramatic change in your body very quickly and also lose the weight.

]]>

I want to talk about is the ‘Core and Core exercises ‘… Everybody asks me ‘what is the ‘Core’ and what does it mean?

If you could stand upright and straight and draw a straight line through your body from the tip of your head down through the centre of your neck, spine, pelvis and then straight down to the ground, dividing your body exactly in half then this is what they call your centre line.. You’re Core.

Your Core is kept upright and stable by your ‘Core stability muscles’, which include deep abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles.

Now if your Core stays in line and straight you will stand upright and tall with no back, neck pains or any problems.

However, in the real world it is not like that and people in today’s society suffer from injures, over weight, and illnesses which can all throw your Core out of alignment coursing you more ailments and discomfort. Some people don’t even have any injures but over time they have started to lean more to one side this then starts to throw their body out of alignment.

With your Core out of alignment your stability muscles start to do there own thing to try and help you keep upright. They end up working unevenly, for instance.. if you put more weight on the right foot because you lean to the right you will put an extreme amount of pressure on the Core muscles and they start to form there own shape to help them perform as best as they can under these circumstances.

This can then cause other problems and lots of unnecessary pain or discomfort.

With Pilates exercises carried out correctly it helps stretch the body and reshape your muscles helping you to realign your Core, intern returning your body to an upright and straight position.

The Real Deal On Core Exercises

The Real Deal On Core Exercises

Article by Mandy Gibbons

It is common to hear people talk about the core of the body as a synonym for the abdominal muscles. While the abs are definitely included in the core muscles and would be targeted with core exercises, the core actually refers to much more. There is quite a bit of confusion and controversy over the exact muscles that are included when you talk about the “core,” but the abdominals and lower back will always be included.

The good news is you don’t have to win the argument regarding the exact muscles included in the core. You can perform core exercises and get great results if you just understand what core muscles are and what they are supposed to do for your body.

To help you understand core exercises and muscles better, consider some fast facts about the core of your body:

The core muscles are not there to look great in a swimsuit. They have a very important functional job: body stabilization. In order to stand up straight, bend, twist and move throughout your daily life, you need strong, flexible core muscles.Your spine is also supported by your core muscles.Every time you move your body, you are utilizing your core muscles. Therefore, proper core exercises will make moving around in daily life easier. In order to function properly in the stabilization capacity, your core muscles have to work together. They also need to work with other muscles throughout the body. You may isolate muscles when you do some core exercises or ab exercises, but ultimately you want to train your muscles to work together efficiently. The lower back and abdominals are the most important muscles when it comes to teamwork. They should flex and contract together to support your body during movements. When they are out of sync you could face injuries to certain areas of the body. The best way to encourage teamwork with the core muscles is to perform core exercises that target the entire core of the body. You can still work individual muscles to gain strength, but you should regularly do core exercises that work the entire core section of the body. Many exercises for other parts of the body or the entire body can also function as indirect core exercises. Since the core muscles must stabilize the body during these exercises, they can get a pretty good workout even when they are not directly being targeted. The goal is to perform core exercises to fatigue. This means you work your core muscles until they start to feel tired and you cannot keep going. If you can dig deep mentally and push harder you aren’t there yet. You should feel unable to continue when your muscles fatigue. However safety does come first, so you want to ensure you still have good form. Once your technique or form fails then make that the end of that set of reps.

For most people 12 to 15 reps of challenging core exercises should typically fatigue the core muscles. The best core exercises will fatigue the muscles by forcing them to do their job stabilizing the body.It isn’t necessary to know exactly what muscles are included in the core or to name all of those muscles. What is important is to work your core in unison and train them to work together to stabilize your body and protect your spine.
