Exercising at Home

Exercising at Home

Article by Paul J

A gym is nice to have nearby, but shouldnÂ’t be a requirement for a person to work out. There are exercises that a person can do in their home to keep that body or lose weight without going to the gym consistently. Perhaps someone goes on vacation where a gym is unavailable to them. Depending on how long theyÂ’ll be gone they might want to work out for a few minutes every day.

Exercises? Like Sit-Ups and Push-Ups?Although sit-ups and push-ups are an option, theyÂ’re not always the best choice. If someone gets too used to the gym they may actually be doing sit-ups or push-ups incorrectly and actually damaging their muscles; rather than helping them. Jogging is a great, easy, and effective way of exercising without a gym nearby. This mainly helps a personÂ’s leg muscles; there are other ways besides running to exercise a personÂ’s lower body. A wall-sit is another great way of exercising. A person leans their back to the wall and sits about halfway down and squats there. ItÂ’s actually a lot more difficult than it sounds.

What about Upper Body? The upper body is a bit trickier, but there are still techniques to exercise it without going to the gym consistently. The pull-up is a great way to build strength in oneÂ’s shoulders and arms. Find a sturdy bar and pull yourself up. A person can actually do a whole workout with a pull up bar. Head in front, head in back, lifting oneÂ’s legs left to right at an angle while keeping oneÂ’s self up. This is the most common way of working out away from the gym.

So thereÂ’s no excuse to lose the progress one has already gained because of a vacation or loss of gym. ThereÂ’s always a way to exercise at home with little to no cost.

4 Great Ways to do Abs Exercises at Home

4 Great Ways to do Abs Exercises at Home

Article by Travis Hunt

You don’t have to leave your house to get a full workout for your abs. Whether you perform your six pack abs exercises at home or somewhere else, you can still get a sufficient amount of core strengthening.

Since you don’t require heavy gym equipment for your abdominal workouts, you can do these exercises virtually ANYWHERE. That’s a big money-saver right there.

Keep in mind, however, that to be successful in carrying out these abdominal muscle exercises, you need to know which ones are the safest and most effective. By creating a safe workout environment, your abs get intense training and all your efforts are maximized.

Here’s another tip to remember: don’t be scared to change it up. Switch your main abs exercise once in a while so you don’t get bored.

There are many drills to choose from for your abs exercises at home. Doing these 4 basic exercises can help you get started with your program:

1. Bicycle Crunches. If you know how to do regular abdominal crunches, then you’ll find it easy to do these. Simply lie flat on the floor and lift your legs up while slightly bending your knees. With your hands tucked behind each ear, raise your elbows alternately toward the direction of your pelvis. Begin a cycling motion with your legs, making sure that your knees touch your elbows as you {contract|tighten} your abdominals and raise your shoulder blades. Working the lower half of your body only increases the intensity of this exercise.

2. Captain’s Chair. Even without an actual captain’s chair, you can still perform this exercise at home. All you have to do is stand in between two steady beams that are shoulder-length apart, rest your elbows on each beam, and allow the lower half of your body to hang loose. Slowly lift both knees toward your torso then lower them back down. Repeat this process a few more times and you’ll certainly put those abs to work. Gravity can be your biggest ally in your quest for six pack abs.

3. Modified Stomach Crunches. Doing these abs exercises at home is especially good for your lower abdominals. Instead of moving your upper body, like in a regular crunch, you will utilize lower body movements by lifting both legs off the ground inch by inch. You will instantly feel the tension in your lower abs; that only means it’s working. Then, lower those legs back to the floor. Don’t forget to keep those abdominal muscles tight with every rep!

4. Full Vertical Crunches. Prepare yourself for a pretty challenging exercise. This will definitely make you break a sweat. As you perform regular crunches, keep both legs perpendicular to the floor. Try to push your feet upward as you curl your upper body in for that crunch – that should give your abs a decent workout.

Doing these 4 techniques will give your abs exercises at home a good start. See how far your body can go with these exercises. If you keep at it, you’ll get those great six pack abs in no time.

Learning How To Exercise At Home Can Save Money And Improve Fitness

Learning How To Exercise At Home Can Save Money And Improve Fitness

Article by James Redder

There are numerous ways that people can exercise at home without equipment, which is ideal for those who can’t afford the expense of a gym or buying workout equipment. There are various exercises which can be carried out at home and which can be extremely effective if persevered with. The following are some simple instructions on how to exercise at home:

One of the best ways to exercise is by walking. There is nothing healthier or interesting than a brisk walk around the neighborhood, especially when the weather is good. If the weather is not good enough to walk outside then it is still possible to walk indoors. Walk up and down the stairs approximately five times to tone up leg muscles. Carrying a loaded laundry basket will also help to tone up arms and abs. No stairs in the house? No problem. Just walk briskly around the house as many times as possible for a beneficial cardio workout.

Jumping jacks are another simple exercise which can be carried out at home. These exercises are great for cardio and warm-ups and are reminiscent of children

Benefits of Exercising at Home – What You Ought to Know

Benefits of Exercising at Home – What You Ought to Know

There are a lot of benefits of exercising at home, and the fact is, the average person would often prefer this method over the usual practice of going to the gym. Most people have now turned to modern exercise equipment to help them keep fit and healthy while remaining at the comforts of their living rooms or garages.

You might think that going to the gym is the best way to obtain a lean body and this will probably hold true to the dedicated bodybuilding and fitness enthusiast, but exercising at home is more convenient and therapeutic for most people. Privacy is only one of the many concerns that people want when they exercise. Going to the gym sometimes affects the mentality of the newbie exercise junkie and they may feel incompetent compared to the buff bodies found inside the gym.

Busy individuals would also benefit from exercising at home as traveling to and from the gym is both a costly and time consuming affair. This method may prove inadequate to those who live in a small home or apartment building as exercise equipment can be heavy, bulky and require expertise when operating. Modern equipment is designed with the convenience of the average consumer in mind and is capable of giving a full body workout in a relatively light and portable package.

]]>

The most popular exercise equipment on the market today would have to the the elliptical trainer. There are many different kinds of elliptical trainers sold on the market, and they differ according to price and features. A basic elliptical trainer is ideal for exercising at home as it offers a thorough body workout minus the bulk and complications of other machines. The continuous and wide variety of motion that an elliptical machine offers will help you lose weight in a fast and effective way. Couple this with a proper diet and your home exercise program is complete.

You need not invest in fancy equipment if you want to exercise at home. A spare room or a moderately sized living room is usually enough to perform any exercise activity. In fact, whatever form of exercise routine you choose, the wide array of home exercise equipment sold today is more than enough to turn an ordinary home into your own, personal fitness haven.

Remember to maintain discipline when starting a home exercise program. This holds true in all aspects of training. Going to the gym is not a guarantee of an effective workout or exercise routine and it all depends on the dedication and discipline of any given individual. Most people are more motivated to exercise at home as this lets you watch TV or listen to your favorite music when exercising. The favorite part is when you get to sit, relax and shower at your own pace after an exhilarating full body workout.

As with all matters concerning fitness and health, it would be best to consult a qualified fitness trainer before, during and after participating in a home workout program. This will ensure that you get the best workout designed for your needs and that are in accordance with your age and health condition.

Gain Strength With Abdominal Exercise At Home

Gain Strength With Abdominal Exercise At Home

Article by Wilma Lojewski

Abdominal exercise at home does not need much time. Besides the abdominal muscles, most ab workout trains the entire core muscle group. Three to ten minutes every second day can be a valuable step to a healthier life. That would be an easy start for beginners, and even busy people can manage it. Exercising the core muscles means to train almost everything except arms and legs. So we can work a large part of the body at a short time. We can do it with or without abdominal exercise equipment.

Thinking about abdominals, we often think of six pack abs. That is not the topic here. A six pack does not show up immediately. It needs much training and usually a specific diet. Nevertheless, people who do short ab workout at home on a regular base will recognize a difference soon. A stronger feeling in the midsection, better posture, better digestion and better breathing takes place.

The long-term effect is astonishing. We avoid loosing muscle mass. Instead, we maintain what we have or – even better – we gain muscle mass. As more muscle mass as higher the basal metabolic rate (calorie consume in the state of rest). That is excellent for weight control and makes stronger. Even the bones get healthier. Additional muscle tissue nourishes them better. Regular abdominal exercise at home pays off, especially in the 50 plus years of one’s life.

Tons of exercises for abs are possible. Beginners who never worked out or did not for a long time may start with crunches. They are classic and highly effective. Lie on the floor, lift the feet, and crunch the body. Try, for example, 3 sets of 8 repetitions. That might be enough for beginners and needs just minutes. Used to that, one can increase the number of reps or add different exercises like leg lifts or bicycle crunches.

Although crunches are considered to be quite safe, there could be a danger to hurt the back. Injuries are always possible during a workout on the floor, especially if people already have some back problems. One can avoid pain by doing the performance carefully and accurately. Untrained people or persons with health problems should talk with the doctor before they start abdominal exercise at home.

A piece of abdominal exercise equipment improves the workout. The range of items is enormous. One can spend from less than 10 to more than 1,000 Dollars. Not all devices are suitable for beginners. For example, the ab wheel: It is cheap but needs already strong core muscles. It is not suitable for beginners. They better choose an abdominal exercise ball. Balls are inexpensive as well, but they allow a lot of easy and safe exercises. Most of the exercise balls come with a helpful chart or a DVD for safe and effective workout. Balls also can be used as a chair for active sitting. It is comfortable, and the core muscles work a little with every motion.

The best abdominal exercises are the ones performed in a hanging position. Body weight and gravity give additional resistance. For such training, we need equipment. Beginners usually are not able to hold themselves by hands on a bar during the workout. Even hanging ab straps do not make ab workout easy. Probably a vertical knee raise station is the best abdominal exercise equipment for beginners. The back rest and armrests support the body properly and make the training safe for back and neck. Many people with back problems report that such exercises are immensely valuable for them. Vertical knee raise stations are big and sometimes expensive, but there also are affordable ones on the market.

Inactive people who would like to improve their general health and fitness should try abdominal exercise at home. It has significant benefits, with or without a piece of abdominal exercise equipment. Some persons will be able to do it on the floor. Others will have fun with the abdominal exercise ball. A vertical knee raise station might be right for people who truly want to get in better shape. Most of such power towers have additional chin-up and dip bars for extended workout. They can be used by the whole family.

Exercise At Home Without Weights

Exercise At Home Without Weights

Home exercise is the new phenomenon in fitness, and the explosive growth of home exercise equipment is ample proof. It’s easy to see why many individuals would be interested in home exercise routines. You can get great results exercising at home, as long as you know what you are doing.

All it takes to get results at home is an exercise mat, some free weights (dumbbells) and exercise tubings. That’s all it takes. With the number of tools available today, it is simple to set up a gym atmosphere in the comforts of your own home. I train most of my clients in their own home.

To get results at home, you need self-motivation and discipline, since you are going to be on your own. It’s not as hard as you think and can be enjoyable and beneficial. When you are committed mentally to pursue a leaner, energized and dynamic fitness level, changes happen much faster. There are some things that can derail home exercise.
It’s likely your hectic schedule or a long commute discourages you from exercise. Sometimes, an individual can get intimidated by the social atmosphere of a health club. After all, if a club is a place where people flirt more and exercise less, you might find yourself less inclined to go! It could also be crowded, and many people do not like waiting in line for the equipment. With home exercise, there is not waiting period. Despite the popularity of health clubs, many individuals are now exercising at home. In fact, the Journal of the American Medical Association reported a study conducted by Stanford University. The study said exercising at home is just as beneficial as working out at a health club. Interestingly, the study also found people who trained at home were more likely to stick with their program than those who exercised at a club.

Strength Training Exercises At Home For The Upper Body and Abdominals.

For best results, warm up for 10-15 minutes with light aerobic exercise (walking, cycling, jogging). Deep breathing and stretching for 3-5 minutes before you begin strength training helps the muscles relax and rejuvenate.

The following exercises do not require any equipment, other than a pair of dumbbells.
This is a unique method that I have developed on my own, and it has helped thousands of clients get results. You can view my clients in action with videos of home exercises and download full color exercise routines by registering on my websites mentioned at the end of this article.
